The ecolodge

THE KAENGHA DUNES
Akine Dyioni is located on twin dunes connected by a wooden bridge, in the middle of rice fields and community gardens, and about 150 meters from the Atlantic Ocean.
As the dune landscape is a fragile environment, all accommodation has been built and renovated with this in mind, as well as with the concern to make the most of local know-how.
We strive to increase the presence of plants like vétivers (Chrysopogon zizanioides) that help preserve the erosion of the dunes.
Tall fromager trees and many other trees, plants and flowers give the place its oasis character, and serve as habitat or food for many species of birds and insects.
Akine Dyioni is an ecological niche, which is not easy to maintain. The dunes are vulnerable and require specific and intensive care.
We expect our guests to treat the site with respect and care, so as not to go against our desire to preserve this fragile environment for future generations.
Akine Dyioni is entirely solar powered and we count on our customers to moderate their needs in electricity and water, and on their understanding in case of insufficient sunlight.
Since we took over the site, we have constantly invested in its preservation. Our commitment to eco-responsibility has many facets: in addition to planting and creating terraces, investing in a more efficient solar and irrigation systems, favouring the use of geo-concrete when renovating, we have introduced a composting and recycling system for organic waste, banned the use of pesticides and limited the sale of plastic bottles in the restaurant.
Your hosts
As experts in development cooperation and connoisseurs of the West African context, we feel strongly connected to its populations and their environment.
We fell under the spell of the Kaengha dunes in 2019. Designed in 2012 in the spirit of a “world apart” (“Akine Dyioni” in kwataï), the site was already largely solar powered and local materials were valued.
Baké, Kanou and Raïka, our 3 dogs, will also be your hosts.

By taking over this place, we have the ambition to develop a charming hotel that combines ecological principles with relaxation, well-being, sports, discovery and cultural exchanges.
This project allows us to combine our commitment to sustainable development with our common passions : West African people and cultures, flora and fauna, gastronomy, music and literature.
We are committed to the idea of making a profit, while generating a positive return for society and the environment.
We have set guiding principles with Akine Dyioni that reflect our values.
